16.07 - Day 27 - Buenos Aires to Iquaza, ARG

Buenos Aires to Iquaza, Argentina
Friday 16th July 2010

Following admin and checking out of PAX Hostel, during which time we briefly bump into Ruth & Jenny (Irish girls from New Zealand, and the Salt Flats in Bolivia) who had also been in the hostel for two nights, we set off on a long walk to earn lunch at Café Clasica y Moderna.

Despite its popularity the waiter Ricardo recognises us from our previous visit. Last time we got the set menu we drank only water to save on costs – Ricardo remembers this too.

Buffet starter is again delicious – one plate allowed only so its stacked high – we scoff at people who make do with just one slice of quiche. The translated Lentil Linguine is actually Beef and Lentil Stew – so I get Krish’s entire meat helping. Instead of desserts, we opt for coffees which come with biscuits and aqua con gas. Another great meal all round.

Our last trip to Dylan so we super-size, opting for the third largest size (out of nine); a quarter kilo. Each.

Then off to the bus station and aboard ETA Kurtz, Cama Class for the 19 hour journey to Iguaza.

Pre-reading of the guide book we realise there’s actually two towns at the border: Puerto Iguaza in Argentina and Foz du Iguaçu in Brazil. Our bus terminates in Argentina – our hostel is in Brazil. We’ve only gone and booked our hostel for the wrong country. Damn.

On the plus side this is the best journey yet; the bus is even equipped with a full time stewardess. After dinner with wine we settle to watch a movie and chink our Tia Maria filled glasses. Salud.
