Sienna - 10.02 - Day 26

 Saturday 10th February

Today we woke up really early and caught a van (our driver was called Big and our guide was called Rainbow) to the highest point in Thailand. We then walked back down a trail with a local guide where we saw waterfalls, a giant yellow spider, cows, a donkey and white handed gibbons. We then had lunch given to us, for lunch I had an omelette and rice. We then took the van to twin Pagodas (on top of the mountain). The King’s one was brown, but the Queen’s one was purple and much more pretty.

Then the van took us to an Elephant Sanctuary. At the Elephant Sanctuary there were 5 female elephants. In order to go inside the elephant area we had to put on a blue top so the elephants knew we were friendly. Everyone was given a bag with bamboo sticks and bananas that you used to feed the elephants. One of the elephants preferred bananas, so when you gave it a stick of bamboo it would just drop it on the ground. I was only wearing flip flops when we met the elephants so when I was feeding the elephants I was a bit nervous that they would step on my feet. Then we all went down to the creek and four elephants got in the water with us. In the water everyone was given a bucket and we used those buckets to splash water on the elephants. There was also in the sanctuary a female and male dog, who had just had puppies. They were four weeks old. Then we took our van back to our hostel where we fell asleep in our beds.
