21.05 - Day 127 - New York
Tuesday 21st May - New York (Day 127)
With schoolwork underway, Kate ducks out at 9:30am returning triumphantly just after 10 brandishing a pair of tickets to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for her and Sienna tonight; a small batch released each day at 10am at the nearby ticket office.
To make the day even better for Sienna we also visit the New York Public Library for a tour at 11am - however within minutes Sienna is whispering “this isn’t a library tour, this is a history lesson”. So whilst the adults might be impressed with the architecture features of a 125 year old building, the kids less so, resulting in Kate taking them across the road where all the childrens books reside whilst I finish the tour including the huge yet ornate Rose Reading Room.
On the walk back to our Even Hotel we collect 5 $1 slices of pizza which are surprisingly good and certainly good enough for us. Buoyed by that and the following games of table tennis and table football we head out again, walking west a few blocks to Little Island, a small man made island jutting out above the Hudson River on stilts.
Our plan from here is to walk up along the High Line, but partly for air con and partly for interest we duck into the Tesla store debating whether we should buy one of their Cyber Trucks or robots on display.
The High Line is a great walk on the old railway track, a lot of time and effort reintroducing vegetation and allowing a slightly different perspective of the buildings and of the streets it crosses over.
There’s a bit more school work to be done back at the hotel before Seb and I get mexican dinner at Los Tacos - Seb gamely trying all of the tacos I got to sample before we stumble upon and sit down to watch and listen to some country music in the plaza outside Madison Square Gardens.
In the meantime Sienna and Kate are en route to watch Harry Potter which they both thoroughly enjoy for a true Broadway experience.
