02-07.08 - Days 200-206 - Mynytho

Friday 2nd August - Wednesday 7th August - Mynytho (Day 200)

Friday is a quieter day in terms of outings but with 5 children in the house it’s never really quiet. There’s a trip to the park for kite flying which is always harder and more work than it feels like it should be. Mr Banks made it look easy.

Slow progress is made on the Coventry Cathedral jigsaw but there are some GB golds in equestrian and also terrifying women’s trampoline. Leon Marchand (La Baguette) of France’s gold rush continues, the aquatic centre is jumping with noise for the poster boy in the 200m medley.

More families playing on Saturday (Day 201, 3rd Aug). I assist dad fixing the rudder on Carousel which involves beaching the boat to allow access, surrounded by the hard working tractors launching and landing boat after boat on their trailers.

Seb’s engagement with the Olympics continues to grow - he’s now fully self-sufficient on BBC iPlayer and is happy to watch and rewatch event highlights. His fix today sees more GB medals in rowing and equestrian, St Lucia’s first ever medal - gold in the women's 100m for Julien Alfad.

Sunday (Day 202, 4th Aug), Kate and Sienna head out form a leisurely horse ride which has been on the To Do list for several months - all further endearing Sienna to all animals.

Meanwhile I had Seb away from the Olympics for a walk to Mynytho Mountain with Ollie. The day is again filled with childish antics as the 5 cousins all play together.

Sienna is especially smitten with the girls, Seb is perhaps distracted by any and all Olympic events - Noah Lyles brash bravado coming true in the closest of close 100m finals - all 8 separated by just 0.12 seconds.

Trying to persuade 5 children and 2 grandparents to look and smile at the camera at the same moment on Monday morning (Day 203, 5th Aug) is a challenge. This needs to be done before Corinne, Lucy, Lily and Sophie head back to Buckingham.

Kate’s crafting has taken a hit on this trip so we source some wool in Pwhelli from which she crochets 3 small blue bobble topped hats for donation.

Seb’s Olympics addiction is deepening - the kayak cross is fun, GB paddling for silver and bronze.

We have a nice lunch on Tuesday (Day 204, 6th Aug) in Aberdaron (Gwesty Ty Newydd) overlooking the busy beach.

There’s a bit of a breeze and blue skies so all six of us then head out to Carousel, where in fact there’s a bit more than a bit of a breeze and a white horses on the waves so we tuck in behind the headland for some calmer sailing joined briefly by a dolphin in front of us. A swim this time round is too optimistic so we instead make use of the pool at home to splash around in.

Wednesday (Day 206, 7th Aug) we make our way back from Mynytho to Buckingham stopping in to see the kids' great Aunty Judy and Martin where we’re indulged with strawberries, cream and cakes.
