08.09 - Day 237 - Salzburg, AUT
Sunday 8th September - Salzburg (Day 237)
The kids wake up and immediately start playing, usually Noah and Seb and then Mila and Sienna, but occasionally mixing up. But they’re all happy.
So it’s with a little persuasion - and promises any walking will be on flat surfaces - that we drive south of the city to Golling an der Salzach for a well trodden walk upstream of a small river.
Off to one side are two small lakes with crystal clear water and confident fish well acquainted with visitors obtaining fish food from small gumball machines and launching pellets into the lake. A classic crowd pleaser.
Opposite we settle on the river bank for a picnic and soon the kids are scrambling about on the water's edge. Where yesterday the lake water was pleasant, this water is finger tingling cold. So it’s short sharp bursts in the water to try and build some small dams on the edges.
Having had to persuade the kids to leave the house, we of course have to persuade them to go home again. But the carrot at the end of this rod is a good one: Clem is making crepes for dinner which he does back at the ranch in industrial quantities much to everyone’s enjoyment.
We try for an early night for the kids given everyone has school in the morning, with Noah and Mila’s first day back after the summer holidays.
