15.09 - Day 244 - Trogir, CRO
Sunday 15th September - Trogir, Croatia (Day 244)
Two full days ahead in Trogir and with the weather looking grey today and sunny tomorrow, we persuade Sienna and Seb to do Monday’s schoolwork today to allow us more beach time tomorrow.
Once that is negotiated and completed we walk the few minutes along the seafront and over the bridge into the Old Town. Today it is a maze of shops and restaurants set in stone buildings rising three floors either side of narrow alleys.
We let Sienna and Seb choose Left, Right or Straight On at each turn until lunch calls, taken at Pizzeria Mirkec, inside white stone thick walls.
Rather unexpectedly, at some point someone decided to stick a full size astroturf football pitch on the island and we’d spotted some players warming up on our meanders, so after lunch Seb and I find a lookout up a 15th century castle turret at one end of the pitch, with the main castle at the other end, bordered by sea on one length and the Old Town on the other.
No idea on the score but happy to watch the last 20 minutes of a junior HNK Trogir team play out a win (we think).
Meanwhile, Kate and Sienna have found ice cream for dessert - where Seb's dessert is to play some football on a concrete basketball court / football pitch on our larger island using his new Croatian ball, in his full Croatian kit. Up and down the pitch he merrily runs.
Back at the Apartment Tomena, it is a team effort working on Sienna’s schoolwork - creating a four minute film called ‘The Coin’, which Sienna very much warms into.
