18.09 - Day 247 - Prizba, CRO
Wednesday 18th September - Prizba (Korcula Island), Croatia (Day 247)
The forecast is for just a few hours sun late morning so after ploughing through school work we don our swimmers and walk down the 90 stairs to the water.
Sienna is once again immediately in and off snorkelling whilst I also stick my head under with just goggles - lots of fish visible in the clear water. There’s a swell which means I can’t see Sienna if she’s more than 10 metres away, so Kate is playing spotter from the shore.
Seb is still out of sorts and perhaps something more going on than travel sickness so also watches from the side this time.
The map shows a headland in the village of Prizba so to seek out calmer waters we head there as the good weather holds. There’s only two other families in this small bay with a handful of boats.
We’re all in and out the flat water, Sienna and Kate snorkelling. Sienna is still very keen to stay in the water so she and I swim further around the bay before getting out and walking back. Seb goes in the water with the pressure of FOMO, however quickly retreats to the car for a rest. It’s all very relaxing stuff.
The local (and only) shop supplies us bread for lunch back on our balcony - all the while the weather is getting better and the sea by our house flattened out, resulting in us spending the afternoon in and out of the sea, jumping from the concrete edge, and swimming back and forth to two stand up paddle boards attached to a buoy about 30 metres out at sea.
After this hard graft, it’s fish and rice for dinner on the balcony. Finally the promised storm clouds roll in and rolling and rumbling thunder reaches us as lightning flashes across the sky.
The rain follows.
And stays.
And pours.
