26.10 - Day 285 - Carcassonne, FRA
Saturday 26th October - Carcassonne, France (Day 285)
It’s overcast without being cold as we pop to the other side of the cathedral that Apartment Carcas is next to. Some strawberries and cheesecake from the nearby market should get us through the day.
An amble through town as far as the canal (which stretches from the Atlantic to the Med) where the kids are happy to spin around in a playpark - and spin us around too. Crepes are rolled out for lunch, one of Kate’s specialities which always goes down well.
The kids are plonked in front of the TV allowing Kate and I to pop to the Fine Arts museum, 5 minutes away. Who has houses with walls big enough to commission these pieces in the first place?
We all head out again in the town where plenty of kids are Trick or Treating into the shops. There are also posters and postcards, which with an app come to life with sinister scenes. It’s all well organised with face painting and crafts on the streets too.
Once everyone has had their Halloween fill, and another play at the playpark - Sienna hopscotching with a local Serena and playing rock paper scissors.
Everyone but me heads back to the apartment, while I take a walk up to the citi and castle, walking a loop and out into the vineyards where the plucked vines are starting to turn.
Dinner in the apartment and a relaxing evening.
