15.11 - Day 305 - Stoupa to Melissi, GRE

Friday 15th November - Stoupa to Melissi, Greece (Day 305)

The sun is out and we’re in no rush to leave. Breakfast is delivered by Martina again around 8:30 am and is as gratefully accepted as yesterday.

There’s a three hour car ride ahead, so in a vain attempt to have Sienna and Seb sleep in the car we head down to the beach.

On the sand we build more dams, castles and even a village with a port, Sienna admits to inspiration from Acrocorinth’s triple defensive wall from a few days ago - so they are paying attention perhaps.

Although it is sunny, it’s not August hot and we have the beach to ourselves and certainly the sea when we have a final dip.

Back at Amani Earthy Living we pack up - whilst having a second stab at finishing breakfast - before heading north along the coastline with dramatic cliffs, cute coves and quiet villages.

The motorway - with tolls, albeit 2-3 euros rather than the 10-12 in France - takes us up through the Peloponnese mountains and down to a different coast where low slung houses form towns that merge into one another.

Melissi Blue (in Melissi) is our accommodation although when Sienna, Seb and I are shown the apartment it has water on the floor in the bathroom, bedroom and hall. Thankfully they have another apartment which is twice the size which we swap into once Kate has engineered the car down a very narrow lane - and this was after we’d ignored Google Maps that wanted us to turn onto a pavement and into the sea.

The apartment does feel as though the family owners have moved out this morning; when is homely too homely?

But it’s right on the sea - looking towards the mountains around Delphi where we’re heading tomorrow.

When you have a rocky beach in front of you, you have to throw stones, so once that and dinner is done it’s time for card games and bed.
