18&19.11 - Days 308-9 - Kalamos, GRE to Singapore to Siem Reap, KHM

Monday & Tuesday 18th & 19th November - Kalamos to Athens to Singapore to Siam Reap (Day 308 & 309)

Although there is only one bedroom, the two sofa bed are comfortable so everyone has a good night's sleep. The kids do school work while outside a weekly market is being set up; Kalamos seems abuzz.

The two storey house is one of the best we’ve stayed in, we can see why it’s got such good reviews.

We usually let Sienna and Seb have the last of any change to spend at the airport, but I spy a pick ‘n’ mix stall at the market from our balcony so suggest they could spend the money there which they jump at - carefully handpicking wrapped sweets for the travels ahead.

Packed for the final time in Europe - and having given / offloaded to Chris items bought since the U.S. like cool bag, ice blocks, plates and bowls etc. it’s an hour drive to the Volta4U car hire depot offsite near the airport.

It’s always a slight relief when the check in desk is expecting you, and, after encouraging Seb to run around the airport we’re onboard our Scoot Airline (= no TV) Dreamliner for the 10 hour flight to Singapore on which we manage a few hours sleep.

At Singapore airport we have 5.5 hours to pass so end up popping out through Immigration, though not the airport complex itself to see the 40 metre high vortex waterfall in the Jewel. We also find some spaces to run around in plus some food plus some needed if unnecessary  walking.

On discovering onboard that the next flight has TVs, Sienna asks if we can make the flight longer than it’s two hours. Seb laughs out loud at Cars 2 and both Sienna and Seb are too absorbed to eat the meals that arrive.

Like at check-in, I’m relieved when the visas are all accepted and our pre-booked taxi trundles us the one hour into Siem Reap where Aussie Kathryn greets us at Passport Villa and to our large room. Kate, Sienna and Seb pop out for some dinner before a long sleep for everyone.
