13.12 - Day 333 - Kep to Kampot, KHM

Friday 13th of December- Kep to Kampot (Day 333)

We’re heading back to Kampot today. As our travels end continues to draw ever closer we’re trying to go slower rather than faster. So with no plans to see this or do that we decide Kampot is as good a place as any. If we can find somewhere with a pool in a town big enough to have different eateries, bakeries, street food sources and coffee but small enough to explore on foot fits the bill.

After our fifth included breakfast in five days, Sienna and Seb finished the last full week of school work for the term (next week is only three days), Seb and I have a last swim - despite having been shown a video of a monkey having a swim in it a week ago by another guest, before packing our bags.

We play card games in the restaurant as we wait for our ride, also munching on a few baked banana rice rolls. Mr. Nak can’t make it but sends a friend who drives us the 30 minutes to Onderez Hostel in Kampot.

This large airy hostel has a swimming pool, pool table, table football and one of the games we came across in Rome; flicking wooden discs through a small arch halfway along the tabletop.

The downside of coming back to a town we already know with no discernible big name attractions - because for now, relaxing is the key - is that I’ve basically no photos. We did walk into town to find some dinner, but plans to head out for the opening ceremony of the sea festival which coincidentally starts tonight are aborted when it starts to rain so we retreat to the room for more card games.
